Exiting your vehicle on the curb side is the safest option because it allows you to avoid potential hazards from traffic. When you open your door on the curb side, you are protected from passing vehicles and can safely assess your surroundings before stepping out. This practice minimizes the risk of accidents, such as being struck by a vehicle.

In contrast, exiting on the middle of the street exposes you to oncoming traffic and increases the likelihood of a collision. Similarly, getting out on the road side places you directly in the path of vehicles, which can be particularly dangerous if you have not thoroughly checked for oncoming traffic. Exiting at a crosswalk might seem safer than the road side, but it’s still not the best option for safety, as crosswalks are typically intended for pedestrians, not for exiting vehicles.
